About Us

We are psychology students from across Europe, passionately committed to fostering an open dialogue about mental health.

Our goal is to raise awareness of mental health, challenge stigma around mental health disorders, and promote lasting change – building a society rooted in understanding and openness.

“Mind the Mind” is a Europe-wide project under the Social Impact Initiative of the EFPSA (European Federation of Psychology Students‘ Associations). For over a decade, psychology students in 15 countries have been actively working to destigmatize mental health disorders. This year, 48 local groups across Europe are joining forces to bring mental health to the forefront and inspire a shift in perspective.

Our Mission: Promoting Awareness and Understanding of Mental Health Disorders

Our goal is to foster greater awareness of mental health disorders in society and contribute to a deeper understanding of these conditions. This mission is especially important to us because mental health disorders are still surrounded by stigma and prejudice, often stemming from a lack of awareness. We are committed to ensuring that mental health issues are discussed as openly and naturally as physical health concerns, whether in public discourse or private settings. Together, we are laying the foundation for a future free from the stigma surrounding individuals with mental health conditions.

All contributors to “Mind the Mind” are volunteers. We are proud to dedicate our time and energy to this meaningful and heartfelt project.

Qualifications

As part of their psychology studies, our volunteers gain in-depth knowledge about the human psyche, as well as human experiences and behavior.

Volunteer Training and Development

All volunteers complete a standardized and mandatory training program to prepare for conducting workshops. This program not only includes an introduction to the workshop topics and materials but also emphasizes the development of didactic concepts and the interactive design of workshops. A specially designed training module further hones the volunteers‘ presentation skills.

In addition, the importance of handling participants‘ experiences with sensitivity and responding to contributions in a respectful and appreciative manner is regularly addressed in group meetings within the local teams. After successfully conducting workshops, volunteers also exchange feedback and insights with one another, fostering growth through shared experiences and continuous development.

EFPSA & DGPs

The European Federation of Psychology Students‘ Associations (EFPSA)

The European Federation of Psychology Students‘ Associations (EFPSA) is an umbrella organization representing psychology student associations across Europe. As a non-profit organization, EFPSA facilitates networking and professional development for psychology students on a European scale.

As part of EFPSA’s Social Impact Initiative, various projects have been established to apply psychology students‘ knowledge for meaningful causes. One of these impactful projects is “Mind the Mind.”

The German Psychological Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie e.V., DGPs) is an association of over 5,000 German psychologists committed to ensuring quality in research, teaching, and education. The organization publishes and teaches on topics related to human experience and behavior, while actively engaging with universities, research, politics, and everyday life to promote and advance scientific psychology.

The DGPs represents German psychology students within EFPSA, providing them with access to EFPSA’s services and events and fostering connections with students from across Europe.
